Summertime and Blueberries

by tracybenham on July 18, 2011

Besides being a great summer song, summertime blues can make you smile.
I love summer days filled with many of my favorite Blues:  Clear blue skys,  the ultramarine blue of the ocean and the indigo blue of yummy blueberries.

Go Blue this July

Blueberries are often considered one of the ‘Superfoods’. Blueberries are a great source of vitamins, minerals, phenolics, fiber, and flavonoids.
Experts says that foods like berries, nuts, soy, yogurt, veggies, fresh fruit and more can help prevent heart disease, high cholesterol, and other chronic diseases.
Blueberries are high in naturally occurring *antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E, and are low in sodium and fat.

July is National Blueberry month. This tasty treat is in season all over the world.
Buy and freeze some for an extra treat later this summer.
Freeze blueberries in a single layer, then pack them into covered containers and put them back into the freezer, where they’ll last for months.
One cup of blueberries has approx. 84 calories, 14mg of Vit. C and .8mg of Vit. E.,
